The 1921 Census (27 May 2021)

The short news is that Find My Past will be making available online the whole 1921 census in January 2022. There is a website which gives full information about the census, for which this is the link.

FHF Really Useful Bulletin Issue no 9 (17 May 2021)

The FHF have just sent out issue 9 (May 2021) of their Really Useful Bulletin. Recent issues of this bulletin (newsletter) are available from this public page on their website, where you may also subscribe to receive your own copy by email.

Removal of human remains at St. Lawrence, Brentford (4 May 2021)

Orion Heritage Ltd has announced that human remains buried in the churchyard at St Lawrence, Brentford, will be removed and re-interred at Brookwood Cemetery. As a result of this notice, we have a list of burials provided by Orion Heritage. Any personal representatives of deceased persons may make their own arrangements for removal and re-interment by contacting Robert Bourn at by 14 May 2021.

FreeUKGEN (Zoom) Conference is announced (22 April 2021)

Free UK Genealogy Org which is the organisation behind FreeBMD, FreeREG and FreeCEN will be running a Zoom conference open to all on May 22nd (4pm to 7pm) and on May 29th (8am to 11am). To register your interest use this link . To learn more about the conference, see their Facebook page.

Volunteer is needed to be our Social Media Co-ordinator (4 March 2021)

Kirsty Gray set up our Facebook and Twitter pages in November 2015, and has used her staff at Family Wise Ltd to host these web pages, but now she needs to handover to fresh hands. We are looking to find a new volunteer to run these pages for us. We can provide handover guidance to anyone who will step forward to join the WMFHS support team. If you can help at all, please make contact with any member of the Committee. Our thanks to Kirsty and her staff for all the work put in to setting up and running these pages for us.

The London Metroploitan Archives have just published issue 44 of their quarterly newsletter available here.

A collection of old West Middlesex postcards received today (16 January 2021)

This morning brought a most pleasant surprise. I (Roland Bostock) received a package which contained about 200 old postcards, mostly of churches in our area, passed on from an anonymous sender. I use this notice board to say a huge 'Thanks' to this sender on behalf of the Society. They will likely find a home in our Archives.

Free history lectures from Gresham College (8 January 2021)

Gresham college have emailed us (to the Secretary) highlighting that they have a broad programme of online lectures that anyone may sign up to attend, and it is all free. They particularly highlighted to us that they run a History series of lectures, but they do much more besides. Why not Take a look.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting is a Zoom meeting to be held on Thursday 17th June 2021. The main part of the meeting will be a talk by Gill Blanchard titled Behind the Scenes Working for the Who Do You Think Your Are? television series'. Her talk will be followed by the Society's AGM.

Next Fair

It's a long way off. We shall be running our virtual stall (with chat) at the next FHF Really Useful Family History Show on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th November 2021.

Advice sessions run at Feltham Library have had to be suspended, but advice may be requested by email. See the Advice page.
