About us

This section of the site sets out the purpose and aims of the West Middlesex Family History Society and how it is organised. A map of the West Middlesex area is provided, along with a listing of the parishes the fall within the jurisdiction of the Society. It also provides a brief history of the Society and its activities since its foundation in 1978. A Society contacts page provides information on the members of the current Executive Committee and how they may be reached. For those who are interested in joining the Society, membership information and an application form are included. Finally, the position of the Society as an affiliate of the Federation of Family History Societies is described.

The logo of the Society was inspired by the blazon of the arms granted to the Middlesex County Council in 1910: Gules, three seaxes fessewise points to the sinister proper, pomels and hilts and in the centre chief point a Saxon crown or. The seaxes and red background have a much longer history, having been long associated with the Kingdom of the Middle and East Saxons.
