Gazetteer for the Greater London area

This page is intended to help identify which of the family history societies that cover the London area has an interest in a particular place. Please type the name of the place in the box below and press the Search button.

Enter place name:

The search is not case-sensitive. Note also that the search will accept partial place names. For example, entering "sta" will return, among others, Staines, Stanmore and Stanwell, while "ham" will return Hampton, Fulham, Hammersmith, Laleham, etc. The columns of the table can be sorted by clicking on the name of the column. Church dedications (e.g. St Mary) are not indexed, except for the City of London and cases elsewhere for which they provide the principal names by which the parish is known (e.g. St Pancras).

London, Westminster and Middlesex Family History Society have developed an alternative 'Which Place is Where' aid to locating places in Greater London. Like the Gazetteer it will identify which of the London FHS cover each town/area within Greater London, but it has more detailed information on the streets and locations within the LWMFHS area.

Here's the Link.
