The FHF have just sent out issue 17 (January 2022) of their Really Useful Bulletin. Recent issues of this bulletin (newsletter) are available from this public page on their website, where you may also subscribe to receive your own copy by email.

Google Maps for graves is announced (7 September 2021)

The Times gives a brief description of a project which will map and photograph every gravestone in each of the C of E's 19,000 graveyards. Link to article. One to watch I think.

Talk to your children about this item (25 August 2021)

The following is from the September issue of Who Do You Think You Are? magazine. "Young genealogists from around the world have joined forces to launch a website catering for the needs of researchers who were born between 1995 and 2010. The Hidden Branch includes a blog, episodes from a podcast and details of the founding members, with online resources coming soon. The group describe themselves as 'the new generation of genealogists who grew up in the digital age'. They can also be found on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter".

The Register of Qualified Genealogists (RQG) announce their 2021 conference (25th July 2021)

RQG announce that their 2021 conference is titled "Genealogy and Social History: Know Your Ancestors" will be held online via Zoom on 25th September, and may be attended for free by anyone. To register visit their conference website.

The 1921 Census (27 May 2021)

The short news is that Find My Past will be making available online the whole 1921 census in January 2022. There is a website which gives full information about the census, for which this is the link.

Removal of human remains at St. Lawrence, Brentford (4 May 2021)

Orion Heritage Ltd has announced that human remains buried in the churchyard at St Lawrence, Brentford, will be removed and re-interred at Brookwood Cemetery. As a result of this notice, we have a list of burials provided by Orion Heritage. Any personal representatives of deceased persons may make their own arrangements for removal and re-interment by contacting Robert Bourn at by 14 May 2021.

Volunteer is needed to be our Social Media Co-ordinator (4 March 2021)

Kirsty Gray set up our Facebook and Twitter pages in November 2015, and has used her staff at Family Wise Ltd to host these web pages, but now she needs to handover to fresh hands. We are looking to find a new volunteer to run these pages for us. We can provide handover guidance to anyone who will step forward to join the WMFHS support team. If you can help at all, please make contact with any member of the Committee. Our thanks to Kirsty and her staff for all the work put in to setting up and running these pages for us.

Next Meeting

Our next meeting is a hybrid Zoom meeting, the speaker being remote, and members being remote or at St. John's Centre, Isleworth, to be held on Thursday 17th February 2022. The focus of the meeting will be a talk by John Hanson titled My Ancestor didn't leave a will. Well - they should have done!.
