Major Sites

  • Genealogy in the UK and Ireland Genealogical information service including information on places, libraries, archives, family history societies, directories, gazetteers and more.
  • Family Search The genealogy site of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It includes a searchable database with over 400 million names, including the latest version of the International Genealogical Index.
  • Cyndi's List of Genealogy Sites A vast site covering the whole world and with many thousands of links on every conceivable genealogical topic.
  • Rootsweb A large genealogical co-operative with branches throughout the world and with links to many research projects. It includes mailing lists on a wide range of topics, allowing users to contact other family historians with common interests.
  • Genes Reunited Allows users to find their ancestors and to share information with living relatives and other searchers.
  • The National Archives The starting point for accessing the wealth of material held in the UK's national archive.
  • Access to Archives (A2A) Contains searchable catalogues describing archives held throughout the UK, including most county record offices.
  • British Library Access to the collections of the British Library, with a link to the online catalogue.

Society news

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday 16 September 2010 at Montague Hall, Hounslow. Doors open at 7.00 pm. The focus of the evening will be a talk by Adam Brand on the subject Grapho-genealogy - re-assessing our ancestors' characters through their handwriting.
